Authentic Pakistani Fish Pakora Recipe

In this YouTube Short, Rotinaanwala shows how their famous Fish Pakora is prepared using traditional Pakistani spices, fresh white fish and smooth golden batter.

Crispy on the outside and soft inside, this is one of Rotinaanwala’s most popular dishes.

Authentic Fish Pakora Recipe

Ingredients

  • Fresh boneless white fish
  • Gram flour
  • Plain flour
  • Ginger and garlic paste
  • Salt
  • Chilli powder
  • Turmeric
  • Ground coriander
  • Ground cumin
  • Lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander
  • Cold water
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Cut the fish into medium pieces.
  2. Marinate with ginger, garlic, lemon juice, salt and spices.
  3. Make a smooth golden batter using gram flour, plain flour, spices and cold water.
  4. Coat each piece of fish evenly in the batter.
  5. Fry until golden, crisp and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with yoghurt and mint sauce.
Chef Tip: The batter should be smooth and thick enough to coat the fish, but not heavy. This gives the Fish Pakora its golden colour and crispy finish.

Yoghurt & Mint Sauce

Serve with a cooling yoghurt and mint sauce made with natural yoghurt, fresh mint, coriander, lemon juice, salt and a little cumin.
